Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi (/dæ̝/ /træ̝nˈmi/ [waiter] [box; crate]) is a subtropical Town located in the Vyedlupglá Region of the Confederation of Goblin Tribes.

The name Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi was founded by Vúń̄w̄ Cú̄̋nḱ 'Jay Butternut' Nīr Ya̋ńchī Ha̋ń vyim Rolɑrtɑrusg, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a yearly average temperature of 13°C (55°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing 0°C (32°F). Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi receives an average of 257 cm/y (101 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1796 m (5892 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi was founded durring the early 11th century, by Vúń̄w̄ Cú̄̋nḱ 'Jay Butternut' Nīr Ya̋ńchī Ha̋ń vyim Rolɑrtɑrusg. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Vúń̄w̄ Cú̄̋nḱ 'Jay Butternut' Nīr Ya̋ńchī Ha̋ń vyim Rolɑrtɑrusg.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt canals streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. Unfortuantly, these budget focused millitary grade defenses are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Right off the bat Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. Precisely how it has gained its wealth is a mystery. Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to place their homes. Yet there are small elements here and there which show the underlying structure of the community. It’s just so complex, organic, and flowing one can only understand what is a piece of the puzzle, but not what its neighbors are.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi's parks.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi's grid is powered by mana accumulators.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Two or more groups of citizens within Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi hate each other. Their neighbors or the local law have kept things from too-overt violence, but members of the groups will constantly interfere with their rivals and cause whatever misery they can get away with. This hate may spring from recent events, or it may be an inherited spite from old wrongs.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

In Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

The Hawk near Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Mäpt Dē-træ̈nmi's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves reenactments to channel Necromancy energies of tier 1 via divine sermons.
